Course Overview
Elderly Health Issues is designed for agents who will be selling
long-term care policies, whether those happen to be traditional contracts or
Partnership plans. This course looks
at the conditions that lead through the steps ending up with
institutionalization in a nursing home.
Since most people do not immediately need
nursing home care we look at home health care issues, including funding and
dependence on family members. We look
at the tough decisions family members (usually children) must make for
elderly and frail parents. Since Assistant Living facilities are a
major part of the long-term care industry we give it specific attention. Not everyone will need long-term care, so
we consider the risk that is involved in deciding whether or not a specific
individual might be a candidate for some type of long-term care needs. We include some GAO conclusions regarding
the use of Partnership long-term care plans. |
