Facts and Figures

Obviously, every educational course is designed to educate. Wrecks and Fires has that as one objective. This course, however, is written to do more than simply offer facts and figures. Property and casualty insurance tends to be the same information over and over again. After all, the information relating to these subjects tend to be basically stable, with little change. Wrecks and Fires was written to make learning less dreary. While the facts and figures are still there, so is some humor. It is our opinion that learning is easier if the reading is interesting.

Just the Facts, Ma'am

The course covers the role played by the insurer as a financial intermediary. The social role of insurers is often overlooked. Perils and risk are covered as they relate to underwriting and the premium charged.

Technical aspects of insurance policies are covered for both auto and home insurance. Liability insurance is given detailed coverage in the course. Umbrella coverage is discussed in detail: the who, what, where, and why of the policies.

Because insurance is dependent upon factors such as the Prudent Man Rule, how damages are determined in relation to payments, and assessing the risks of daily life, a great deal of space is allowed to these topics.

Errors and Omissions insurance is also discussed in detail. We feel it is important that agents be aware of their own liability and what they need to do to protect themselves, and ultimately the client.

Finally, agent ethics is discussed in the final chapter. This chapter covers such things as consumer regulations, competency, being responsible for their education (in a timely manner), and being aware of the companies represented from a financial standpoint (is the company sound?).
